Austin is a host city for Kidsave International, which facilitates the travel of Colombian orphans to the United States to stay with loving families for 5 weeks in pursuit of a permanent home. These children have little hope of being adopted in Colombia, because at 8-13 years old they are just not as desirable as young children. Fortunately, when these children come to the US and meet US families, over 90% end up in permanent homes here.

Austin’s local volunteer coordinator is Larry Rawlinson. He works with the national Kidsave office to raise money in Austin to fund the travel, he finds and assists host families, he plans weekend gathering during the 5 week stay, and much more. If you are interested in volunteering or donating, please contact Larry at

Over 33 million children are growing up in orphanages or foster care – with neither a mom nor dad to call their own. These children have been abandoned, neglected, and forgotten. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Since 1999, Kidsave International has brought over 1,300 abandoned and orphaned children to the United States for a summer experience. As part of the Summer Miracles program, over 90% of these kids have found permanent adoptive homes with loving families they met on these visits.

The Austin Kidsave Community will be hosting Colombian children this summer for a 5 week period. At a cost of $4,500 per child, we need your help in creating a miracle for each one of these special kids.

You can help! Please spread the word about this program so we can find each child an adoptive family. You can also support Summer Miracles 2010 with your donations to help us meet our fundraising goals! Join us and help change a child’s life. Together we can make a difference.
